Jan Vanthournout Joins Jurimesh’s Legal Editorial Board

Some info about Jan:

Jan Vanthournout is a leading expert in Belgian social law with more than 30 years of experience. He studied Law at Ghent University and at ACV before joining SD Worx, where he built a strong reputation in union negotiations, social elections, restructurings, and collective dismissals, ultimately serving as Senior Legal Manager. He is the co-author of Praktijkgids Sociale Verkiezingen, author of Het Arbeidsreglement, and remains active as a lecturer and commentator on employment law.

Jan’s role at Jurimesh:

Over the past six months, we have worked hard to improve Jurimesh’s legal risk detection system. Together with legal experts like Jan, we have defined over 1.000 legal rules that automatically scan the data room. These are built on deep legal domain expertise, which is indispensable in this process and forms the backbone of Jurimesh.

We have established collaborations with multiple legal experts across different domains, including corporate, commercial, financial, social, IP, IT, and real estate. Each expert brings decades of experience in their respective field and has reviewed thousands of contracts throughout their career. Based on that experience, they translate their expertise into comprehensive Risk Guides for Jurimesh.

A Risk Guide is a simple Word document created for a specific contract type, such as a shareholders’ agreement, articles of association, SPA, T&Cs, SLA, license agreement, or commercial lease and, in Jan’s case, documents related to social law, such as employment agreements and work regulations.

In these Risk Guides, our Legal Editors define which legal risks to identify and how to assess them. Think of it as a manual you would give to a junior associate who needs clear guidance on what to look for.

Our AI engineers then implement these Risk Guides into the Jurimesh platform, enabling it to review the entire data room with the same thoroughness as these experienced lawyers.
